In our 47 bed private hospital we provide a range of long and short-term care and medical services. Our standards are second-to-none, but for our residents, this is quite simply home. And we make sure that’s the way it stays.
All residents, short and long term, enjoy sunny, spacious, carpeted rooms with private ensuite, state-of-the-art TV and if they require it, a personal telephone. They are surrounded by their own furnishings, artwork and personal belongings.
The people at Fairview who care for your loved one are not only fully trained and qualified, they are also kind and caring. We have over 50 full and part-time staff including 8 registered nurses, who all deliver an exceptional standard of care and service.
Delicious and nutritious
Using fresh, seasonal produce and quality ingredients, the menus at Fairview Care are designed by our qualified dietician and nutritionist, and prepared by our talented cooks in the Fairview Kitchen. Meals can be enjoyed with others in the dining room or in your own room.
Keeping active, staying stimulated
A sense of independence and fun is important at any age and our dedicated Activities Coordinator is a dab hand at keeping our residents motivated and stimulated. Games, crafts, exercise, events, guests and entertainment are all on the agenda, and outings are organised fortnightly. These outings could be anything from an ice cream at the beach, a scenic drive or visiting local attractions.
Birthdays, important milestones, these things are worth celebrating and celebrate we do! With a special afternoon tea, musicians, dancing, decorations and lashings of fun.
Freedom of choice
This is your life, your home. If you feel like a sleep-in, go right ahead. What you wear, the activities you choose, where you eat … it’s up to you. But rest assured, when you do need help with anything, we’re there for you.
The little extras
There’s an old saying that it’s the little things in life that count, and we couldn’t agree more. Having your hair done, getting your nails cut, a soothing massage for an aching back, these things matter. Which is why our comprehensive support services include an on site hairdresser, physiotherapy and massage, visiting podiatrist, interdenominational church services and visiting hospital chaplains.
Eligibility for Fairview Care
To become a resident at Fairview Care and Hospital you need to be assessed by your local District Health Board as requiring 24-hour hospital nursing care of either a geriatric or palliative nature. We are unable to accept residents who have been assessed as needing psycho-geriatric care. Preference is given to Fairview Lifestyle Village and Settlers Albany Lifestyle Village residents subject to availability.
